Do you need official proof of your German language skills?
At the K5 Basel Course Center, you can earn the FIDE Language Passport and the telc Language Certificate.
These certificates can be important when dealing with government agencies, pursuing continuing education, or looking for a job. At K5, we offer telc exams from A1 to B2, the fide test, and exam preparation for the telc language certificate.

We offer childcare during most class times.
While you're learning German, your toddlers will be in our in-house Childcare cared for by qualified professionals. With us, children can grow and develop according to their individual needs. Our care takes a holistic approach that combines language development, trauma-informed support, and social integration.
Yes. In K5, there is Literacy Classes at various levels. They are designed for people who are just beginning to learn to read and write step by step or who still need a lot of support in the process.
Yes. After you register and before the course begins, we usually conduct a placement test. This helps us find a course that matches your prior knowledge.
Yes. We offer a variety of Basic modules that complement the German course. There, for example, you’ll improve your spoken German, learn important steps for applying for jobs and looking for work, or practice using digital tools in everyday life.

Costs vary depending on the course. With the right Basel-Stadt voucher, a German course can be free. Course fees start at CHF 50.–. Depending on your canton of residence, income, and personal situation, discounts may be available: Our prices are generally based on your income!
For most of our services, we offer an in-house Childcare including early language support in Standard German. This allows parents to attend the course while their children are being cared for.
Yes. All German courses are held in the Gundeli neighborhood in Basel. K5 has several nearby locations there with over 40 classrooms. This makes it easy to get to class, whether by tram, bus, car, bike, or on foot.
