fide module Migration and Interculturality (MI)

In the fide module Migration and Interculturality, you will learn to reflect on your own intercultural and transcultural skills in a differentiated way, to accompany the learning process of adult migrants in an appreciative manner, taking into account their sociocultural background and identity, and to sustainably strengthen their ability to act in everyday life in Switzerland.

Admission requirements
  • Proven practical experience of at least 50 hours of 60 minutes each in a practical field with migrants (except for the IDIconTOTO course, no practical experience necessary)
  • linguistic and meta-linguistic competence in the respective local official language that corresponds to or is equivalent to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
  • Willingness to actively participate
Proof of competence

In order to receive the module test, you must actively participate in the courses (min. 80 %) and your proof of competence must be assessed as "fulfilled".

Application deadline

2 weeks before the course starts. If places are available, registrations are also possible after the registration deadline.

Target price

Accompany the learning process of adult migrants, taking into account their sociocultural background and identity, and reflect on their own intercultural and transcultural skills in a differentiated way.

Competencies

  • reflect on their own intercultural and transcultural competence in a differentiated way
  • Derive situation- and role-appropriate action alternatives from the reflection
  • derive consequences for their own actions and the (further) development of practice-relevant intercultural and transcultural competence from reflecting on intercultural and transcultural situations
  • take into account the current Swiss integration model (IAS) and the structural environment for reflecting on practice
  • Describe the practical situation with regard to the relevance and development of intercultural and transcultural competences in a concrete and differentiated way
  • recognize different perceptions and practices of communication and interaction as well as the resulting behavior and the corresponding resources and use them for interaction with individuals and/or groups in practice
  • formulate situation-related hypotheses on the socio-cultural influences of those involved, substantiate them theoretically and critically examine them, and
  • raise awareness among participants of their intercultural/transcultural skills and resources

  • Reasons for migration and migration biographies
  • Theoretical approaches, models of culture and identity, socio-cultural imprinting etc.
  • important institutions and organizations that are relevant to the target group,
  • Prejudices, stereotypes and ethnocentrism
  •  Promotion of intercultural and transcultural competence
  • Critical self-reflection on one's own attitude and/or role in the teaching and learning context in the field of integration

Deregistration
Cancellation up to three weeks before the start of the course is free of charge, after that the full course price must be paid.

Course implementation
If there are too few registrations, the K5 Basler Kurszentrum may cancel the course up to one week before the start of the course. Course fees already paid will be refunded.

Modulate test
Participants must fulfill the following requirements to obtain the modulat test:

  • > Active participation in the courses according to the course program (classroom teaching) (at least 80% per module)
  • > Proof of competence assessed as "passed" by the module lecturer

 

Appeals and repetition
A written objection (to the attention of the manager) may be lodged within 30 days, stating the reasons, against the "fail" assessment of a certificate of competence. The module provider decides on this:
a) the approval of the objection (proof of competence "passed" after all),
b) the repetition
c) the rejection of the objection.
